1. Festival(Proper Noun) The second Assamese Bihu is known as Kati Bihu or Kangali Bihu and is usually held in the month of Kartik or Sankranti (falling in October according to the English calendar). This Bihu is not celebrated with gaiety; this is a Bihu of prayer and meditation. During the month of October people are preparing for the winter crop; there is no harvest- the seeds are being sown and consequently there is no money to splurge on fun. People practise the art of being thrifty and the young ones also learn that money is not just for the asking and that they must refrain from too much spending even on festivity.Kati Bihu is celebrated at the timeof sowing the crop.Goddess Lakshmi is invoked by lighting an oil lamp (deep) every night in the paddy fields, where the people have toiled all day for a month. At home, after a good day's work, the old and the young gather and pray to the goddess and ask her to bless their land with a bountiful crop, and the home and family and livestock with health, wealth and strength. আহিন আৰু কাতিৰ সংক্ৰান্তিৰ দিনা কাতি বিহু (ইংৰাজী মাহ মতে অক্টোবৰ মাহত)৷ এইসময়ত মানুহৰ আহু ধান শেষ হয়, শালি ধানো চপাবৰ নহয়, সেইবাবে তেতিয়া মানুহৰ খোৱাত টান পৰে৷ কাতি বিহুৰ সময়ত খেতিয়কৰ ভঁৰাল প্ৰায় শূন্য হৈ থাকে বাবে এই বিহুত বিশেষ ৰং-ৰহইচ কৰা নহয় ৷ গতিকে অভাৱ-অনাটনৰ সময়ত হোৱা বাবে এই বিহুৰ আন এটা নাম কঙালী বিহু৷ কৃষিজীৱী অসমীয়া মানুহে কাতি বিহুৰ সন্ধিয়া ঘৰে ঘৰে তুলসীৰ পুলি ৰুই গধুলি তাৰ গুৰিত আৰু ভঁৰালঘৰৰ দুৱাৰত সভক্তিৰে চাকি জ্বলাই নাম গাই সমৃদ্ধিৰ বাবে প্ৰাৰ্থনা কৰে, ঘৰৰ চোতালৰ চাৰিওফালে আৰু খেতিপথাৰত চাকি জ্বলাই৷
